Highly-covered, exclusive sneakers are often sold at incredibly high prices. Some of the most expensive sneakers have gone for over 100,000 dollars at a time. All of these sneakers aren’t necessarily sold to be worn, rather some of them are just collector’s items that people want to keep. Today, we take a look at some of the most expensive and coveted sneakers in the world.
3rd – Flu Game Jordan 12s
Michael Jordan’s influence in both, the game of basketball and the world of sneakers, can’t be understated. A big chunk of sneaker culture comes from Michael Jordan’s impact and the shoes he wore to games or brands he partnered up with to release shoes.
The flu game was one of the most iconic games Michael Jordan had played. While he had been showing flu-like symptoms for the entirely of a final game, he still managed to score 38 points and snatch a win for the Chicago Bulls. The shoes he wore in that game were a pair of black and red Jordan 12s. The original, game-worn sneaker was sold for a whopping price of 104,765 dollars. This just slightly edged out the number 4 slot, which was a pair of 2016 self-lacing Nike MAGs that sold for 104,000 dollars.
2nd – 1984 Olympic Converse Fastbreaks
These Converse Fastbreaks were also donned by Michael Jordan in an early part of his career where he hadn’t yet partnered up with Nike to create the Air Jordan series. These sneakers were what Michael Jordan wore during the gold medal-winning game against Spain in the Olympics. In 2017, these signed and game-worn pair of sneakers sold for 190,373 dollars.
1st – 1972 Moon Shoe
The moon shoes are a collector’s item, with only 12 pairs ever being released. Nike released these shoes back in 1972 and since then these shoes have gone on to shatter world records in auctions. The most expensive sneakers ever sold, the only unworn pair of original moon shoes were sold in 2019 for a whopping price of 437, 500 dollars. This absolutely destroyed any earlier records, and they currently remain the most valuable sneakers in the world.
